So, this weekend was a little rough—it being my first weekend without Josh. It’s very surreal to me. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t sleep last night.
Friday, I had a “me” night, and watched Napoleon Dynamite, ate Haagen Das chocolate ice cream, popcorn, and beer, and went to bed early.
Saturday, I woke, laid around a bit, ran outside (only a quarter mile, but I still hurt really badly today), and packed and went to Valparaiso for a family friend’s wedding picnic. Following the lameness that it was, I went to a house party at Brian and Bridget’s friends in the country. There were a lot of people, tons of food, a band, volleyball, families, friends, and the cutest little girl tabby kitten ever. I almost stole her, but opted against becoming a further crazy cat lady.
Then, I drove to Chicago to boystown (it took 2 hours because it was Venetian nights and traffic was awful). I got ready at my friends’ Tyler and Jayson’s house. They have a great apartment. I’m super jealous, but I’ll get over it. Jayson stayed in and Tyler and I went out to meet his friends and the guy he’s dating, Steve. We went to some guy’s house and had a drink, then to the Closet for a drink. Shortly thereafter we went to Cocktail for a drink, and then to Berlin, again, for a drink. That’s only 4 drinks people—and Tyler had to finish most of them for me. And somehow after Berlin, I was drunk and my stomach was in so much pain, I spent half the night passed out on their bathroom floor trying to puke.
In the morning, I showered and felt better. Then Tyler and I went for breakfast. I couldn’t stomach it and so I only ate some toast and juice. I laid about Tyler’s for a bit, watching “The Saint” (aaaah Val Kilmer, I do love you so!) and waiting for Jamie to call me back. I left around 3 and went home.
I was supposed to work from home, but opted for finishing the other movies I’d rented, “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” and “The House of Flying Daggers.” I recommend both highly. I realized that I think I’m more into martial arts movies than I realize. I loved “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Hero,” and here can now add “House of Flying Daggers” to my list. If anyone has any other great cinematography/martial arts movies to recommend, I’d love them forever. It looks like Kerry might be doing the whole “stay at home and watch a movie” thing for a while… I just don’t feel like getting into the dating scene quite yet.
You are a dog-earred book. Read and re-read. Torn, dog-earred, yellowed pages, Thick with wear, Spine creased and worn. Passed from one generation to the next, From friend to friend to foe. I always love to crack your pages and delve into the story I already know. I know how it will end, and yet I still read and re-read you again. |
